Resilience is defined as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, or in short, toughness.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of our community, Education Matters closed its campus and paused all in-person classes for our more than 500 adult learners.
With the help of our partners at Cincinnati Public Schools/ASPIRE, our staff adapted quickly to create a process for enrollment of new students and to build a curriculum for instruction online.
During that time, Education Matters has also been able to continue to provide critical, barrier-removing wraparound support for our students and their families across the Cincinnati area. Over the last three months, our staff has been connecting one-on-one with students to offer support through the delivery of food, hygiene products, and household cleaning items directly to the doorsteps of our students.
Like our staff, our adult learners have also displayed a tremendous amount of resiliency. Read the following stories to hear insights from several students about how they have pushed forward, despite these new and unprecedented challenges.
Then, please consider investing in the strengths of our students as they work to overcome any and all barriers that stand in their way and advance towards their personal educational and career goals.
